“Jamie's workshops have felt spacious, light, tender and kind. I feel wholeheartedly nourished and closer to myself through his work. There is always something new I understand. I return home inspired and curious.” – Clarissa, Artist and Teacher

"I find multiple sessions per week to be a vertical step up in my practice. I noticed after the first week how I was integrating the practice more often throughout my day, even on the days we didn't meet. Practicing with others amplifies the benefits of the practice. This work is valuable in my everyday life, and in my life as a teacher and artist. I notice how many people are benefiting; not only my students - their ease and calm is making waves in their families and work places." - Kate, Somatic Movement Teacher

Thinking Body, Sensing Mind: Journeying in the Somatic Landscape

Thinking Body, Sensing Mind is a series of journeys into the inner landscape of the body designed to highlight sensory experience and increase awareness, relaxation, and presence. (These classes have been offered consistently since April 2020 - initially, as a response to the pandemic and then as an ongoing regenerative antidote to modern life.)

These somatic-expressive explorations are derived from the Embodied Mindfulness protocol for exploring and internalizing the five basic somatic technologies: breath, vocalization, contact, movement and stillness while initially laying down or sitting. (We alternate our relationship to gravity in order to let go and decompress in lying down; and to rise up and mobilize energy in sitting.)

We gift ourselves with breathing room and create a restorative break from the world by giving spacious attention to our bodies in movement and stillness. The structure encourages individual responses, creating a self-directed rhythm of focusing on the guided path and wandering off the path as much as one desires.

This return to the body in the company of others online is a welcome oasis of calming introspection and tender self-care, providing the foundations of a daily practice for regenerating and sustaining our vital energies.

Each series is offered as "pay what you are able" sliding scale ($75-250/series of 8 classes).

All sessions are recorded for participant downloading and playback.

“To stop your mind does not mean to stop the activities of the mind. It means your mind pervades your whole body." - Shunryu Suzuki, Zen Master

"Being mindful is not a matter of thinking more clearly about experience; it is the act of experiencing more clearly. Mindfulness simply demands that we pay close attention to the flow of experience in each moment." - Sam Harris
