"The major problems of the world are the result of the difference between how nature works and the way man thinks." – Gregory Bateson “Ecstasy is the accurate term for the intensity of consciousness that occurs in the creative act.” -Rollo May “To stop your mind does not mean to stop the activities of the mind. It means your mind pervades your whole body." – Shunryu Suzuki, Zen Master |
Tending and Befriending our Inner Ecosystem
"You do not have to be good. Somatic Expression® is a user-friendly method that combines the five objective somatic technologies - Breath, Vocalization, Contact, Movement and Stillness - with subjective personal experimentation as a creative way to tend and befriend your inner ecosystem. Embedded in us by nature for physiological and psychological health, practices based on these five indigenous technologies gently guide the way for uncovering "the soft animal body". The cultivation of our somatic garden with these five enlivens and brightens our inner sensing, contributing to a feeling of safety, belongingness and self-confidence. This 3-hour experiential session offers a content-rich, relaxed space to explore multiple possibilities for collaborative inquiry with your soma. We alternate practice of each of the five technologies with theory for context and reflection for relevance. These practical resources for centering, grounding, energizing and relaxing have been culled from researching the nature of the body over many years of practice and designing activities that can be used in various environments. Open to all levels of experience, this session will be recorded for participant playback. It also provides a good introductory taste for students of somatics and movement of the more in-depth Somatic Expression Lab Series Online 110 Hour Program beginning January 2025. Register: |
